The story of bZOIA is a movement that began in 2006 within the prestigious business incubator of PUC-Rio, Brazil. What started as an experiment in "Sustainability as a Creative Skill" by Brazilian designer Vanessa Wagneur has evolved today into an international symbol of simple luxury and regenerative design.

From ZÓIA to bZOIA

Originally founded as ZÓIA in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, we transformed into bZOIA as we embarked on a new chapter of expansion into Europe. This new name marks our maturity and the fusion of two distinct cultures.

The B in our name forms the essential bridge between the B of our Brazilian roots and the B of our new home in Belgium. At the same time, it reflects our ambition as a "To Be" concept—a path toward becoming a certified company that brings real benefits to the planet. A business that truly exists to leave the world a better place.

Behind bZOIA is the entrepreneurial couple Vanessa Wagneur and Laurent Alves. Together, they form the perfect balance between two worlds: Vanessa’s boundless Brazilian creativity and Laurent’s strategic commercial vision. Drawing from his Belgian-Portuguese roots, Laurent bridges the gap to the European market, bringing international life to the "EMPACT" concept—created by Vanessa in 2016 as a form of entrepreneurship driven by empathy and a love for the craft.
